James Tomlinson chairman of AfriCat UK

James Tomlinson

Chairman
- Trustee since 2014

James is Sales Director at West Berkshire Brewery and a Director of The Royal County of Berkshire Brewery. He lives in a village near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, with his wife and 2 children, Lucy and Freddie.

In 2007 James and his wife visited AfriCat with Moulsford Prep School and then again in 2009.

Since then he has always talked about the great work that AfriCat does and his desire to be more involved with such a charity. This dream came true during the summer of 2014 when James was invited to be a Trustee of AfriCat UK.

Chris Savage

Marketing and Media – Trustee since June 2020

Although born in the UK I travelled whilst growing up, lived abroad twice and still continue to explore as an adult. I now live in South Oxfordshire and I’m the Managing Director of Round & About Publications Ltd, a family owned publishing business. I am kept busy with 3 children and a hyperactive lab. My eldest son is also a huge animal enthusiast and desperate for his first nature reserve trip.

My love of Africa started when I travelled with my now wife, who worked as cabin crew for British Airways. It led to my first safari, whilst on honeymoon, to the Masai Mara, Kenya. A truly mesmerising and unforgettable experience.

Whenever you visit Africa it’s very hard not to come home with a desire to help in some way. For me that opportunity can now be realised, and I very much look forward to supporting AfriCat, with my publishing and communications experience and my passion for wildlife and Africa in order to raise the much-needed funds to further develop this already great charity.

AfriCat UK Trustee

Terry Driscoll

Corporate Liaison – Trustee since June 2020

Terry is a lifelong conservationist and adventurer with a passion for Namibia, having travelled and explored the country from its southern boarder with South Africa to Angola in the north and from the Skeleton coast in the west to the Okavango delta in the east. Following many decades of campaigning for wildlife causes, he is now honoured to be a trustee of a charity that is very close to his heart. His core focus will be to extend our relationships with corporations to help raise funds and spread the vision for Africat.

AfriCat UK Trustee

John Birch

Social Media – Trustee since June 2020

John is a former public servant who now enjoys life as professional wildlife photographer, using his experience as a trainer and mentor to help others realise their potential as photographers. In this guise he has made numerous visits to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation and has long been impressed with the conservation efforts of the charity. He is delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve the charity as a trustee. John lives with his wife Jules in the remote North Pennines in the UK.

Nikki Simons

Charity Secretary – Trustee since June 2020

A Legal Assistant by trade my passion for Africa and its wildlife (especially its lions) was triggered at a young age after watching the film “Born Free”.  I have a degree in Zoology and a post graduate certificate in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health (both attained as a mature, some might say very mature student!).  I was fortunate enough to visit both Okonjima and NLT in 2016 and assist on the annual vet check.  I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to get more involved and support the work of AfriCat UK by becoming a Trustee.
